The Nazda Alam Foundation (NAF) is grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with the United Chinese Americans (UCA) to co-host a presentation by Tricia Liu, a US Patent Practitioner, and Immigrant Advocate. The joint speaker series: US EMPLOYMENT BASED VISAS, LEGISLATIVE EVENTS OF THE US CONGRESS RELATED TO EAGLE ACT, AND H1B REFORM AND HOW THEY AFFECT YOU.
Ms. Liu’s presentation gave the audience an invaluable glimpse into the world of impactful legislation, voting trends, and trajectories, along with some eye-opening realities of worldwide country abuses of the H1B visa process. Some insightful and thoughtful questions were raised about the impacts and potentials of human rights abuses as collateral impacts of the H1B process. As a result, prospective immigrants face increased wait times and unfair denials of these visa categories.
NAF looks forward to collaborating with practitioners who share a passion for social justice and transparency in the immigration process. A sincere thank you to Tricia for sharing her expertise and educating the audience.
The event was moderated by Nazdal Alam Foundation's board member, Dr. Denise Miller Shaif. Thank you Dr. Shaif!
Parwez Wahid and Nazda Alam were elected to the Massachusetts Electoral College. There are 11 Electoral College in the State of Massachusetts. Out of which two are Muslim Americans. Another proud moment for American Muslims proving that consistent political engagement pays off eventually and helps to put the American Muslims on the US political map and a testimony to the fact that this demography is to be reckoned with.
“The Electoral College is the institution that elects the President and Vice President of the United States of America every four years. The Electoral College consists of 538 electors.”
Most of us who are participating and have been following US presidential elections for the past years have come to realize the significant of the Electoral College body – The Presidential candidate who receives 270 electoral votes gets to occupy the corner office in the White House.
Election to the Electoral College is largely a recognition from State Committee colleagues for service and contributions to the Democratic Party. Alam’s and Wahid’s candidacy for elector earned the endorsement of many individuals in the Democratic Party leadership.
Parwez Wahid (shown being sworn in as a member of DSC) and Nazda Alam (shown in the center along with fellow DNC National Delegates: Ms. Homaira Naseem and Noman Khanani) – both serve on the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee (DSC).
