Location: Remote

Job Type: Contract/Freelance

Project Duration: Until funding goals are met (estimated 3–6 months)

Compensation:

Competitive, based on experience and proposal success

About the Employer:

The Nazda Alam Foundation (NAF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Weston,

Massachusetts. Its mission is to support the participation of Muslim women, both locally and

globally, in social and political processes. The Foundation has hosted voter information and

registration events, informational sessions for Muslim communities, and presentations on

immigration and legal status issues, while also fostering Muslim community involvement in

local elections and the United States federal census. NAF has also offered educational sessions

virtually, including with elected Muslim women leaders. The Foundation has produced a

documentary on the plight of Rohingya women and children and plans to pursue more

educational documentaries, the next one being about Bangladeshi women in sports.

About the Project:

We are producing a powerful and culturally significant documentary focused on Bangladeshi

women breaking barriers in sports, particularly cricket and soccer. The film will highlight the

struggles, triumphs, and untold stories of athletes who are redefining gender roles and societal

expectations in Bangladesh through sport. We aim to shed light on intersectional issues such as

access, equity, visibility, and resilience in both rural and urban contexts. To help bring this vision

to life, we are seeking highly motivated and experienced grant writers to identify, develop, and

apply for grants that will support all phases of the documentary—research, filming, production,

and distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

● Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, non-profits, film institutes, and

international organizations aligned with the project’s themes (e.g., women’s empowerment,

sports equity, South Asian stories, cultural preservation, and social justice).

● Develop compelling, customized grant proposals and LOIs (letters of inquiry) tailored to

each funding body’s criteria and priorities.

● Collaborate with the producer and director to understand creative goals and budgetary needs.

● Manage application timelines, submission requirements, and follow-up communications.

● Maintain a grant tracking spreadsheet with deadlines, requirements, and submission status.

● Assist in drafting general fundraising language for pitch decks, crowdfunding campaigns, or

sponsorship materials if needed.

Qualifications:

● Proven track record of securing grants for film, media, nonprofit, or social impact projects

(samples or portfolio appreciated).

● Strong writing, research, and communication skills with the ability to tell a persuasive story

through a grant proposal.

● Familiarity with major film and media funding organizations (e.g., Sundance Institute, Ford

Foundation, IDFA Bertha Fund, Chicken & Egg Pictures, ITVS, Women Make Movies, etc.).

● Passion for storytelling that amplifies marginalized voices, particularly in the Global South.

● Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience (not required but a plus):

● Experience writing grants for documentaries, sports initiatives, gender equity programs, or

South Asian-centered projects.

● Familiarity with international development grants or NGOs that support women and sports.

● Knowledge of or connection to the Bangladeshi community, culture, or language.

To Apply:

Please send the following to Info@nazdaalamfoundation.org

● A brief cover letter expressing your interest in the project

● Your resume

● Writing samples of successful grant proposals (confidential details can be redacted)

● A list of 3–5 grants you think would be suitable for this documentary

Deadline to apply: September 1, 2025
